    Aurora project is a sustainably ethical project through vzw Chinta aim to fill the bottleneck vacancies in the Flemish elderly care sector in Flanders (Belgium) through sustainable recruitment of healthcare workers by active economic migration from Kerala. 


Job Profile

  • Certified BSC (preferred) or GNM from a recognized institution.
  • Preferably graduated after 2016.
  • Evidence of clinical practice (minimum 1 year experience).
  • IELTS overall band score of minimum 6 and preferably 7.
  • OET score of minimum C+ and preferably B.
  • Both male and female.
  • The candidate is preferably not older than 35 years at the start of the selection.
  • If candidates have children, the youngest child should at least be 3 years old at the start of the Dutch training.
  • Keen interest in elderly, geriatric and psychiatric care with a prime focus on geriatric care.
  • Willing to work in elderly care.
  • Willing to follow a one-year additional training programme about geriatric care, psychiatry and the Belgian health care system, in combination with parttime job as healthcare assistant.

 

  • Enthusiastic and motivated to take up new challenges.
  • Strong drive to practice Dutch intensively on a daily basis.
  • Able to combine studies and work simultaneously.
  • Have a keen interest to learn about the vision of mental healthcare and elderly care in Belgium (Flanders).
  • Empathetic and compassionate towards patients/ elderly citizens.
  • Ability to deal with emotionally charged and pressured situations.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Easily adaptable to the use of technological equipment.
  • A team player who enjoys working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Adequate amount of intercultural communication skills.

  • Offer customized care along with the health status and quality of life of the elderly residents/patients (physically and mentally).
  • Plan, execute, evaluate and follow up on the quality care of elderly.
  • Provide daily hygienic care, wound care.
  • Facilitate elderly residents/patients active participation in all aspects of their own health care.
  • Provide psychological support and embrace positive mental well-being among elderly residents/patients.
  • Record the elderly residents/patients medical information and vital signs.
  • Assess the elderly residents/patients ability to do routine daily tasks.
  • Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications. Report adverse reactions to medications ortreatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensedregistered nurse.
  • Pay attention to the elderly residents/patients meal events and fluid intakes.
  • Support the dementia process, depression, mourning and loss of autonomy.
  • Supervise the physical comfort and safety of the elderly residents/patients.

 

As a nurse you have your job responsibilities, but this also implies logistic and healthcare assistant tasks. For example: serving food, hygienic – and incontinence care, this always in connection with the residents/patients/family.

  • Become a registered nurse in Belgium by receiving the Basic Nursing diploma after the completion of the one-year training.

  • After graduation: working week of 38 hours, full-time employment
  • Belgium is in the centre of Europe and gives easy access to visit all European countries.
  • Gain knowledge on the quality of healthcare in Belgium along with the specialised care for the elderly and mental healthcare.
  • Possibility to obtain Permanent Residence (PR) and Spouse Visa in Belgium.
  • Family reunification is possible and will be supported, but cannot be guaranteed. It depends on the family situation.

  • Food costs during the training in India.
  • Rented house/apartment in Belgium (a place for living is provided for the first year, the candidate pays a rent of 500 EUR per month).
  • Living expenses in Belgium (transport, food, clothing, personal, ...). The minimum amount of cash required upon arrival in Belgium is 150 EUR.
  • The selected candidates must have sufficient financial resources to bear these costs.

  • A first selection is carried out by ODEPC, based on criteria determined by the non-profit organisation Chinta.
  • Continued by a psychological test organized by Chinta.
  • Afterwards an interview with Chinta (Selection team represents Belgian employers and schools).
  • The project is a collaboration with Lourdes Hospital; an introductory interview will follow. They have an advisory role within this selection and inform vzw Chinta. The decision lies with vzw Chinta core team.
  • When you are selected, you can participate in the Aurora project, starting with the Dutch language course in July. Candidates need to reach level 1.2 of Dutch after 2 months of language course (August). At the end of September, the school will organise an advisory class council. If the level of Dutch is not sufficient, the possibility exists that the candidate cannot proceed the Aurora training program.

Candidates must have the following documents:

  • International passport (validity check)
  • Correct degree of nursing approved by the State bodies Nursing Council
  • Detailed curriculum vitae
  • A medical certificate and document of good behaviour and morals (PCC) will be asked of the selected candidates.

Candidates must have the following documents; Keep the documents yourself. They will be requested during the preliminary phase.

  • A copy of your diplomas or certificates
  • Acopy of the official study-programme describing the content of the subjects
  • A copy of the document describing the learning outcomes of your programme of study/curriculum
  • A copy of your list of publications
  • A copy of your certificate proving your internships.
  • This attestation shall a least contain information about the period and content of the internship, the department where you did the internship, an assessment of your internship and the tasks you performed.
  • A copy of the documents proving your relevant work experience.
  • A copy of official documents that prove you completed additional training.

Candidates will be asked to do a psychological test. This test will be sent by email from Chinta.
